The main reason for that at the end is that there is so much more to look at here (plus the sample is just too small to conclude anything without seeing a more significant change). I want to look at K/9, BB/9, and GB:FB ratios in particular, but it was a lot of work just getting to this point, and there's not really a good way to get everything you could write about this into one article. Going through the park and league adjustments for each individual stat is a pretty major pain as well. This is far from all-inclusive or final. I think ultimately it would be much more interesting to see what kind of profiles he affects or how he changes pitchers' approaches, and which types of pitchers, if any, he works best or worst with than to just look at it like this and try to see if pitchers improved or not.

Pitch F/X would be a great tool to use here, although it could only go back a couple years. The only Pitch F/X figures I have right now are from the first couple months or so of this season, though, because the data is so huge. I've also done very little experimenting with Pitch F/X and don't know how quickly I could pick it up well enough to start analyzing anything with it.

nice article, although i was saddened to get all the way to the last paragraph and realize that the study didn't really say much about the duncan effect. i was wondering, though, if there would be a way to compare these pitchers' "stuff" by looking at pitch f/x data and seeing how it improved under duncan. pitch usage might also fit into this. and since duncan has a pitch-to-contact philosophy, i'm curious as to how each pitcher strike zone totals were affected.
